buffy summers and spike

Spike’s reaction to Buffy’s death.

James Marsters said: “I’ve never played a character for this long. l’m used to doing stage, where you live with a character for a maximum of about four months. After five years, there really is a space somewhere in my soul where Spike and Buffy really do live. There really is a Sunnydale inside me somewhere. So when Buffy really was dead and I really was Spike it wasn’t hard at all to break down. It was crushing. That’s the weird thing about acting, man. We’re not insane, but we’re paid to use our imaginations as fully as we can. So somewhere down inside my heart there really is a Spike and a Buffy and he’s very much hoping that he’ll get a little more time with Buffy.”

I always felt the tears were real when watching this scene, the same way it was real for the fans. We all love Buffy, regardless of whether she’s real or not.

I see something like this and I’m reminded how much I love this show and how freaking perfect James Marsters was.

When Buffy’s voice breaks when she yells, “we’re not supposed to move the body”.

You know what I love the most about “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”?
The fact that the characters’ reactions are so extremely real.
No censure, no overdramatic bullshit, no cliches…everything gets shot into your face just like the way it is.
At first Buffy is numb, she doesn’t completely feel her mother’s death. It happened the same thing to me with my grandmother (who was like a mom to me).

You don’t realize it…you’re so shocked you get paralyzed, you can’t conceive that fact. It cannot be real, everything is so weird…so impossible. It’s like you’re trapped between fantasy and reality.
Then you understand and everything under your feet just falls and you lose your fucking balance.
This scene was very important to me.
Also Dawn’s, Xander’s, Willow’s, Spike’s, Tara’s and Anya’s reactions were brilliantly genuine, anyway. They were different from each other, every one of them was was suitably written for the character.

Joss Whedon is brilliant, the BTVS cast is brilliant.
You should watch this show, seriously.

What got me is the way they had a brief scene of the sun shining and the sound of children playing. With every death I’ve experienced it always amazed me somewhere that life went on right in front of me….it seemed that everyone should stop and realize…..amazing episode.

I watched this episode following my great grandfather’s death. I had to stop and do something else because this was just so REAL. It mirrored how I felt perfectly, and it actually helped me get through it.

I maintain that “she’s a hero, you see. she’s not like us” is one of the most telling lines about Giles’ characterization in the entire series.

#also this is a tiny little thing  #and it holds barely any significence  #but to me it’s huge:  #Giles puts his glasses on just before he suffocates Ben  #He always takes his glasses off for the hard things the disgusting things the bad things  #he always takes his glasses off so he doesn’t have to see or face what is going on around him in full focus  # he can ignore the horribleness of certain things if it’s fuzzy  #but not this one  #not this time  #and I think that says a lot about Giles too (via ladyknightradiant)

#giles does what needs to be done  #he doesn’t want buffy to sacrifice that sort of integrity but he’ll do it because you know he’s probably done it before  #he won’t mind coloring his soul a little darker for the sake of hers or the world’s  #giiiiiiiiiiles D:  (via the-elusive-ollie)

#When this happened I was simultaneously like  #GILES NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  #and also  #wow that is so spot on for his character I can’t even  #And this is where he continually brushes up against Buffy  #She will never condone killing for the greater good  #And Giles admires that  #but also feels that it is foolish  #and that it is his duty to act as this kind of protector for her and for the world#this is where the Watcher comes out in Giles the most I think  #guh (via 0tterp0p)
